You do not need any prior experience nor do you need any expensive equipment. Just make the commitment to try your best, work hard and we will help you learn the sport and develop your skills. Challenge yourself and you will accomplish more than you thought was ever possible.
Practices are open to everyone: male or female, young or old, veteran player or absolute novice. We work hard but we enjoy ourselves at the same time so come down and introduce yourself at one of our regular sessions and take your first step as a Diablo today.
The Jewish Community Centre, 7900 Northaven Road, Dallas 75230
From US 75, take the Forest Lane exit and head south along the US 75 service road. Turn right onto Northaven Road and the JCC will be on the left after about 0.5 miles.
You will find us on the outside sports field in front of the JCC main entrance ... just look for the odd shape balls!
All home games to be held at Lake Highlands Park, Dallas, TX 75218
We provide all of the training equipment and balls. At first all you need do is come along prepared for a tough, physical workout. Here is a list of basic equipment that you'll want to collect as you progress. There's no need to splash out on expensive items as rugby is a demanding sport and whilst you wear it, you will likely tear it too!
Where would we be without the humble rugby short...? Probably behind bars actually so best get some good ones! Strong, cotton shorts work best. Invest in some rugby-specific shorts from brands such as Canterbury, BLK or Kooga and they will last you for years to come.
We provide the team match jerseys so for practice/warm-ups just wear something strong and appropriate for the local weather conditions. Save your brand new, USA Eagles jersey for the post-rugby socials!
An essential. We like your smile and we want to keep it that way. Good quality, inexpensive mouth guards can be readily obtained from any local, sporting goods store.
You'll want some rugby/soccer cleats to help you run, jink and generally cause mayhem to the other teams defense. Training shoes can be worn for fitness sessions but we do not recommend them for actual play due to the potential for injury if you do not have proper traction. You'll thank us when you sprint away from that huge forward about to tackle you...
For matches, we'll ask you to get a pair of navy socks with white stripes as shown above. Apart from that you're free to wear what you like ... see, we're nice!
This is Texas. Need we say more?
You'll appreciate this after practice. A change of clothes is also recommended as we often go grab a bite to eat to finish the night off.
